Client Care Advocate

Location: Carmel, Zionsville, Indianapolis
Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us:

Dillman & Owen Estate and Elder Law is a dedicated elder law and estate planning firm committed to providing holistic legal, financial, and care solutions for aging individuals and their families. Our Life Care Planning team supports clients in navigating the complexities of aging, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care while protecting their assets and independence.

Position Summary:

The Client Care Advocate plays a vital role in managing and facilitating comprehensive care for elderly clients. This position ensures that clients’ medical, personal, social, and emotional needs are met while coordinating services and advocating for their well-being. The ideal candidate will work closely with families, healthcare providers, and community resources to develop and execute personalized Life Care Plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary resource for clients and their families, guiding them through the Life Care Planning process.
  • Assess clients’ health, home safety, caregiver competence, and overall well-being to determine care needs.
  • Coordinate and communicate with healthcare providers, case managers, legal and financial teams, and facility staff.
  • Assist with transitions such as hospital discharges, rehabilitation stays, long-term care placements, home health, and hospice.
  • Provide crisis support and advocacy to families navigating elder care challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and their families through the end of life.
  • Develop strategic plans to expand the Life Care Planning practice and grow referral networks.
  • Educate the community and professional groups on Life Care Planning and elder law topics.
  • Stay informed on senior health issues, long-term care options, benefits, and legal and financial considerations.
  • Represent the firm at industry events, networking opportunities, and educational workshops.
  • Maintain Notary certification.
  • Travel as needed to meet clients at home, in facilities, or in-office locations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Compassionate approach to working with elderly clients and their families.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple services and manage complex client needs.
  • Certification in gerontology, case management, or care coordination (preferred).

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, social work, gerontology, or a related field (required).
  • 2-3 years of experience in healthcare, social work, case management, or elder care coordination.
  • Understanding of senior health issues, long-term care planning, and available resources.

Work Environment & Expectations:

  • This role requires work from multiple office locations and travel to client homes or care facilities as needed.
  • The position involves frequent interaction with clients, families, healthcare providers, and legal/financial professionals to gain cooperation and build trusted relationships.

Litigation Associate (1-3 Years of Experience)

Location: Carmel, IN and Indianapolis, IN
Employment Type: Full-Time

Dillman & Owen Estate and Elder Law is a growing and dynamic law firm dedicated to serving the legal, financial, and care needs of aging individuals and their families. We specialize in elder law, estate planning, guardianship, probate, real estate and litigation. Our firm is seeking a motivated Litigation Associate (1-3 years of experience) who is eager to develop their litigation skills while working on guardianship, probate, and related litigation matters.

Job Responsibilities:


• Conduct legal research and apply relevant information to cases.
• Independently manage workload and active client cases with sound judgment.
• Communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
• Represent clients in guardianship, probate, and other litigation matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
• Participate in depositions, mediations, and court hearings.
• Assist in trial preparation and trial proceedings.
• Engage in client education and community outreach programs as needed.
• Maintain case organization and ensure compliance with court deadlines.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff to efficiently manage cases.

Required Skills & Qualifications:


• 1-3 years of litigation experience (guardianship and probate experience preferred but not required).
• Strong writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage a high volume of clients and cases with strong organization and time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and legal research tools.
• Excellent judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to delegate and manage administrative staff effectively.

Education & Licensing:


• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Indiana (or ability to obtain reciprocity if licensed in another state).
